The 2024 Olympics & Fashion
If you're living in Paris or just visiting the city's many main monuments, you’ll notice a set of barriers. Construction barriers seem to be around almost every monument here in Paris, mainly due to the looming Paris Olympics. The events occurring this summer are slowly being felt across the city. Although no athletic courts have been built yet, it is clear there are other areas in which this city is also preparing. That fashion, of course, is one of the things Paris is famous for.
Fashion framing the identity of Paris should make it seem that Olympic fashion, both on and off the court, should be in high esteem. With rumors of many designers creating items for the games, we finally have some form of confirmation. Even announced by LVMH that many of its known brands, such as Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Berluti, will be among the few designing looks for French athletes in the games. This comes as no surprise as the corporation will be sponsoring the games. Seeing what these designers create for their iconic athletes will be interesting. However, we are unable to see some of the looks now. We will begin to view the final looks as the game approaches. However, Fashion brands collaborating with athletes for significant events is not unfamiliar. Paris’s very own Saint-Germain Soccer team’s attire is designed by the house of Dior themselves. I even saw Tennis Player Carlos Alcarez sp,onsored by Louis Vuitton.
As we approach the games and the early beginnings of summer, the anticipation for what these designers will create for their chosen athletes is palpable. As you watch each activity on the screen, pay attention to what they are wearing along with the sporting events. This year, the Olympics will be more than just a competition-it will be a unique fashion show, showcasing the intersection of sports and high fashion.
