The 6th; Trends & Fashion LifeStyle
Known for its café culture and bustling art and fashion life, the 6th arrondissement is a hub for the hottest fashion trends and chicest guests. While wandering around the area last weekend I sat down in the Jardin Du Luxembourg and took the time to simply watch the people that passed me by. I was happily surprised to gain some fashion inspiration from the women who started down the gardens on their way to their busy social lives. As each outfit passed by me, while all unique looks, I started to see a pattern or “trend” of pieces if you will.
A staple for the 6th arrondissement is a subtle but chic designer bag. In the heart of the St. Germain, the 6th is a home base for many high class and high profile designer stores. It is not surprising that the ‘it girls’ of the St. Germain holds tried and true to their designer pieces. Pairing them with more subtle pieces such as t-shirts, linen pants and oversized blazers, the designer bags are the focal point of the look. The staple if you will.
Another trend I noticed was the use of animal print. From cheetah to zebra, a girl in the 6th can never go wrong with throwing in an animal print to elevate their look. While the rise in popularity of cheetah and animal print can arguably be seen in almost every arrondissement of Paris, the girls in the 6th share the same love and versatility of the print for any weather or season. Pairing it with a small cardigan or a chic pair of loafers, I spotted a number of ‘animals’ in the wild while sitting on a sunny park bench in the Jardin Du Luxembourg.
Finally, one can never go wrong with an oversized blazer in any season. The girls in the 6th embodied the effortlessly cool aesthetic that pairs with an oversized blazer. This was another fashion trend that I noticed to be quite popular among the 6th. Similarly to New York, the oversized blazer is a fashion staple for most women.
